From an empty folder to a live app.
Four steps, about five minutes. For everything beyond deploying, see the djust docs.
Start from the starter
Clone djust-start, a Django project with djust wired in, and run it locally. You need Python 3.12+, uv and make.
git clone https://github.com/djust-org/djust-start my-app
cd my-app
make install
make devSign in from your terminal
Opens your browser once, then stores a token on your machine.
.venv/bin/djust deploy loginOpening browser to sign in to djustlive… Logged in as you@example.com.
Deploy
Uploads this directory as it is now and builds it. The first deploy offers to create the project. (make deploy does the same.)
.venv/bin/djust deploy my-appCreating tarball from /home/you/my-app... Uploading to https://djustlive.com... Deployment triggered: 3f2a9c1e-… Status: building Status: active Application available at: https://my-app.djustlive.app
Add a custom domain
On a paid plan, open your project's Domains page: add the TXT record it shows and verify, then add a CNAME pointing your domain at your app and redeploy. The TLS certificate is issued on the first request.
Something went wrong?
"djust: command not found"
The CLI is installed in the project's virtualenv. Run it as .venv/bin/djust, or use make deploy.
"Status: failed"
Open the deployment in your dashboard: the build log shows the failing step, usually a missing dependency.
"Saved credentials are no longer valid — please re-authenticate."
Run djust deploy login again.
